நட்சத்திரம் · Natchathiram (star)
One of the 27 stars the moon was in at birth, e.g. Ashwini, Rohini, Thiruvathirai. Add the padham (1–4) if you know it.
ராசி · Rasi (moon sign)
One of the 12 signs, e.g. Mesham, Rishabam, Simmam. Star and rasi are the first things families check.
லக்னம் · Lagnam (ascendant)
The sign rising at the time of birth. It depends on the exact birth time, which is why the time matters.
கோத்திரம் · Gothram
The family lineage. Many communities avoid marriage within the same gothram.
தோஷம் · Dosham
Usually Sevvai (Chevvai) dosham or Rahu-Ketu dosham. Write Yes or No honestly — many families look for a matching dosham.
தசா இருப்பு · Dasa balance
The planetary period running at birth and how much of it was left. Copy it from the jathagam.
Always give the exact birth time and place. The astrologer on the other side uses them to draw the chart again and check it.

Tip: send the biodata first, and the full jathagam (rasi and navamsam chart) as a second photo when the other family asks for it.
How families use it: the 10 poruthams
With the star and rasi of both people, an astrologer checks the 10 poruthams (பொருத்தம்): Dinam, Ganam, Mahendram, Stree Deergham, Yoni, Rasi, Rasi Athipathi, Vasiyam, Rajju and Vedhai. Rajju and Vedhai are treated as the most important. That is why star and rasi must be correct in the biodata.

Is it necessary to put the jathagam in a marriage biodata?
For most Hindu Tamil families, yes: star, rasi and dosham are checked first. If you don't follow horoscopes, you can leave these out and say so.
What if I don't know my birth time?
Write the approximate time and mention it. Some astrologers can still match using the star and rasi.
Is the MyVaran biodata maker really free?
Yes. Filling the details, previewing and downloading the biodata as an image or PDF is free. There is no watermark charge.
Do I need to register to make a biodata?
You can fill everything and see the preview without signing in. To download, you verify your mobile number with a one-time code. This creates a free MyVaran account, and your biodata details are used to start a matrimony profile that you can edit or hide.
Can I hide my photo or phone number?
Yes. The photo is optional and can be blurred, and the contact number is optional. Many families share the biodata first and give the number only after both sides are interested.
Can I share it on WhatsApp?
Yes. Download it as an image (best for WhatsApp) or as an A4 PDF (best for printing or email) and share it with relatives, brokers or groups.
